The role of gameplay programmer

Gameplay programmers job is to implement the logic necessary to create a given game. They fallow decisions made by the lead designers and creating the systems that make the game fun. It's important that systems are crated in a flexible way so that the designers can easily create the game.

A quick search shows that there are many job posting for the role. For example at the time of writing I could find job postings from Rebellion, Warner Bros. Entertainment Group, 2K Games and many more with salaries ranging from £22000 to £40000.

The job descriptions generally include similar components, strong programing skills in an industry standard language (for example C++), experience with a popular game engine (for example Unity), strong mathematical skills, ability to adapt to new situations quickly and team working skills. Positions similar to or adjacent to gameplay programmer are game designer, level designer, engine programmer and other programmers.
